Local tips
Hosting hibachi at home in Sedona
Dinner at your Sedona rental
After a day on the trails, a chef at the house means nobody has to drive back into Uptown or wait for a table for twelve. Before you book, check the rental’s rules on outdoor cooking and quiet hours, and ask the owner or property manager for permission. Spending part of the trip in the Phoenix area? See our Scottsdale page.
Time dinner around sunset
Sedona is a Dark Sky Community, so outdoor lighting is limited and the red rock views fade fast after sunset. Start early enough for guests to eat in the last light, or make sure the patio is well lit. At about 4,300 feet, evenings are cooler than in Phoenix. Bring layers in spring and fall.
Wedding weekends, elopements and retreats
A hibachi dinner works as a welcome dinner or a relaxed night in during a wedding weekend or retreat. For a venue or resort property, confirm with the venue that outdoor cooking with open-flame equipment is allowed. See the menu and pricing before you set the guest list.
Fire restrictions and weather
The national forest around Sedona sometimes has fire restrictions during dry months. Ask your host whether outdoor grills are permitted at the property during your stay. We serve rain or shine, so tell us if wind or rain is expected and we will plan the setup with you.
Book at least a week ahead
We recommend booking at least one week before your party, and the same goes for weekends and holidays. Check available dates.

Questions
Sedona hibachi FAQ
How much does a private hibachi chef cost in Sedona?
$55 per adult and $30 per child age 12 and under, with a $550 minimum per party. The travel fee for Sedona is $100. See sample party totals in our hibachi at home cost guide.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend booking at least one week before your event, and the same goes for weekends and holidays. To check a date, visit our Book page or call or text us at (602) 597-9078.
Are you insured?
Yes. Fortune Hibachi is fully insured. If your rental or venue has its own requirements, please let us know when you book.
Can you cook at an Airbnb or resort villa?
Yes. If you’re hosting at a vacation rental or another venue, please check with the property owner or manager before booking to make sure outdoor hibachi cooking and open-flame equipment are allowed. Please share any property rules with us in advance so we can plan the setup with you.
Do you serve the Village of Oak Creek, Cottonwood or Flagstaff?
Yes. The Northern Arizona chef team covers Sedona and nearby areas, including Flagstaff, where the travel fee is also $100. See our Flagstaff hibachi page. For the Village of Oak Creek or Cottonwood, send your address with the booking request to confirm availability and travel.
What time should dinner start?
Your chef will usually arrive about 30 minutes before your scheduled event time to set up. Please have the cooking area accessible when we arrive—we’ll take care of the setup from there. We suggest eating around sunset so guests have both light and a view.
Can you cook for a rehearsal dinner or welcome party?
Yes. We cook at private homes, rentals and private event spaces. Send the date, address and guest count through the booking page.
What is included with each hibachi meal?
Each meal includes fried rice, vegetables and a side salad. Adults choose two proteins, and children choose one. Your chef prepares the food right at your event, so you can relax and enjoy the experience with your guests.
What if we have fewer than ten guests?
Smaller groups are welcome. Our $550 party minimum still applies, even if you have fewer than 10 guests. Please let us know your group size, and we’ll help you plan your meal.
Do you cook inside homes?
Yes, we can. Most parties are cooked outdoors, but indoor cooking is also possible when the space allows. Please tell us about your space before booking so we can confirm a suitable cooking area for your event.
Do you clean up after the event?
Yes. With every hibachi dinner, we clean up our cooking area and pack away all of our equipment before we leave. We take great care of your home, and we promise to leave your space exactly as we found it. If you add our table setup service, we take care of everything from start to finish: we set the tables, clear them after the meal and handle all of the trash, so you can simply enjoy the evening with your guests.
Do you use nuts or sesame products?
No—we do not use peanuts, tree nuts, sesame or sesame oil. Please let us know about every guest’s food allergies before booking so we can leave out any ingredients they need to avoid.
How do I pay?
For your remaining balance, cash or Zelle is preferred and can be paid at the conclusion of your hibachi experience. We also accept major credit and debit cards for your convenience. Payment details will be confirmed prior to your event.
How do I book a date in Sedona?
Please visit our Book page to choose an available date and time, then enter your event details. We’ll review your request and confirm your reservation with you. If you would like help booking, please call or text us at (602) 597-9078.
